Squash Tournament 2010

Active4less is pleased to announce the Squash Tournament 2010 - See the rules and draw

Active4less in Stevenage is home to Stevenage Squash Club. Squash is a very important part of the club’s heritage and we are extremely proud of the success we have in this sport. Stevenage Squash Club is affiliated to our governing body, England Squash and has achieved a Silver Charter award as a centre of excellence.

As a member of active4less, there is no extra charge for the use of the courts, these are all included in your monthly membership fee. This represents exceptional value and if you are interested in squash, we believe we are far and away the most affordable club in the area.

You will find we are a very friendly and welcoming club, where new members are encouraged to organise friendly games and meet new players. If you have joined the club and are unsure of who to play or what standard you are relative to other club players, please speak to reception and ask for Declan or Alan Cook, alternatively contact one of the Stevenage Squash Club Committee members.

Below you will find more detailed information and contacts relating to squash. We hope you enjoy playing at the club and look forward to getting to know you better.

New to squash?

If you have never played squash before, but are interest in trying, we have a number of qualified and registered coaches, who would be able to provide instruction. Alternatively just hire a racket from reception and give it a go. Sometimes in sport, you find the rules just spoil things and getting out there and having a run around is good enough to start. Many of the staff at the club are also competent squash players and will be only too happy to help you.

If you are young or female, we try extra hard to accommodate your interest in the sport and offer organised weekly coaching sessions for both these groups. More information on coaching is provided below, but please do ask the staff at the club when you get a chance. You will find that we are only too happy to help or point you in the direction of someone who can.

Ladies squash

Wednesday evening is ladies squash night. From 6pm onwards ladies of all standards meet and play other female members. This provides an ideal introduction to squash regardless of whether you are a competent player or completely new to the sport. There is often a qualified coach on hand to provide instruction. There is no charge for ladies evening, it is organised voluntarily by other members of the club. New players will be made very welcome and anyone interested is encouraged to come along and give it a try. For more information, contact Kim on the details shown below, or simply turn up on Wednesday.

Friendly competition for all levels

If you are already a proficient player and wish to play competitive squash, we have 3 teams which play in the local county leagues. Alternatively, if you would rather play regular social squash, there are organised internal box leagues.

If you wish to participate in the internal leagues or be a member of one of the club teams, there is an annual membership fee of £12. There is no profit from this charge and it is distributed as follows. We pay £6.50 to England Squash to register you as an individual member and the remaining £5.50 is put towards the administration and software license required to run the internal leagues, which are undertaken on a voluntary basis by club members. The contact details for both county teams and the internal leagues are shown below:
